And On This Bough ... ~*Marge Tindal*~ Within the spread of every tree a special place is found Shared with loving hearts somewhere upon the bough A cradle hung to rock the babes of family born Holding special memories heart-sung lullabies so warm The strength within this tree held the swings of youthful play Gleeful screams of delight still echo there today The carving on the bark spelling LOVE within a heart Names have changed but the memories remain never to depart A weeping bough that shared the tears spilled by a few Held within the branches when happiness bloomed anew A nest for holding new ones with the songs they have to sing Rocking them in comfort until they too take wing Yes, this tree of family has sustained us all somehow Those who've come Those who've gone tucked lovingly within the bough ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Paula~ Thank you. The boughs of the family tree stand alongside the old 'tree in the yard' of our youth. Linda~ Thank you, my friend. Sudhir~ This is a 'feeling' poem for sure ! Symbolic of the 'family tree' ... yet reminiscent of the backyard tree that gave most of us such pleasure. Tracie~ Thank you, sweet lady. Kit~ Guess we all have that tree of memory that held our laughter and our glee as kids. Mine was the graceful bouncing limbs of the camphor tree. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

This is great Marge!! Wise words indeed! Such a comforting thought to know that, though it may change from year to year, I'll always have that tree to lean on. Wonderful! And thank you for your wonderful response to my latest post. You are truly a wonderful friend! --You can either take me as I am...or you can watch me as I go.-- |

Ah Marge, the memories this has brought back. Stories told of parents playing in the tree, then us kids, then.....the grandkids.... A beautiful poem, making me see that old tree as a staunch guardian, instead of a shedding nusiance. Simply wonderful. Bonnie And thanks for steering me to TA. Marge* Indeed many memories...it's a good thing those trees don't talk It's amazing how you can find the words and the ideas to write magnificent works of weave....but I'm sooooo glad you do!! [This message has been edited by Butterflies_dont_cry (edited 07-31-2000).] |

Marge...so well done, so beautifully flowing, such recollections of different lives, such a pleasure to read....well done , well done... once again. The huge Pine tree at the old homestead that I had my picture taken under when I was a baby still stands....clipped a couple of times by lightning, but still there to mark generations from the turn of the last century......your poem brought back lots of memories...thank you.. |

Marge~ This is so lovely! You know, we all are a part of the tree of life, the tree of family. This is so beautiful that (...yes, I'm gonna have to say it AGAIN) you take my breath away. I know that I will never see the day that your beautiful words and beautiful heart cease to amaze me, dear! Thank you! I love the sentimental way you've presented your "tree" Marge. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

As some one else mentioned..(Paula I think) this reminds me of a tree my grandmother had in her front yard and all the time my cousins and I used to spend there. It feels like a lifetime ago. Thanks for the memories rosepetals25 |

Marge~ That tree holds many secrets and is a special place for us all. I can so relate to this one. I really liked it. Such a wonderful image. Nice writing. Were I to attempt this - 'twould be trite verse and that's my curse no matter the sincerity no matter the clarity would be hackneyed or worse but you told a story in wonderful rhyme a story of family one that spans time and for long ago I pine |

Marge, At our family homestead we have all these Cedars that are ancient....and sadly they have reached their maximum age, and are dying. Everyone in our family is mourning these icons. This poem was awesome, thank you. ~Heather PS I'm going to print this poem for my family to keep with your permission of course.. |
