Red Light District The fog rolls down these side streets Like a prowling creature, stalking prey Shrouding red lights in a smoking cloak One eyed sentinels watching it in silence This night holds a tension almost with dread A contradiction to the human act being sold This place the last refuge of the empty heart Where they've priced the touch of humanness Fog obscures this road, lest I think it carpeted There are no echoes on these walks, just shadows Images of humans, void of natural eye contact Shame warring with desire, desire now the victor Like an old Mediterranean market, lust in variety The smells, the colors, the sights of forbidden fruits My mind echoes an old marketer, selection, selection All freshly washed, ripe and succulent, sweet to taste The old corner house, once Victorian now a curio A refitted large window, alive with sensual kisses Blown from the lips of eager servers, whispers to enter Hesitation de-solves, as the grand door opens to seekers The vestibule deep with color, warm and rich, welcoming A rush of soft feet as a line forms, uniforms optional here Choices seem limited by European varieties of blond wigs An empty heart sees beyond, cueing the question that remains, Excuse me, but can I have one with red hair pleaseā¦ James Parker Haley. Aug 5, 2000 and no I've never been to one. [This message has been edited by Haleyja (edited 08-05-2000).] |

Lots of rich images here, Parker, and personally, I loved your request for red hair! Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

God you're a good poet Parker. The placement of such choice vocabulary is exceptional. Just a great read from stem to stern good man very well done! Must be the beautiful New Scotland wind and water swept shores that are still hauntingly blowing through your memories. I know that good old Halifax would have a brothel story or two etched in the sea scrolls of history. |

Painted as though Jack the Ripper was right around the corner. Course, in those days, the men didn't bring AIDs home to their wives. Red hair, you say??? Hmmm.... Core |

I must say in my day ve had brothels on every corner, with cigar lounges. I think they call them mens clubs today. Regardless they are the same. It kind of reminds me of a story.... one day I vas in the cigar lounge smoking a very big cigar. There were a number of young girls near the entrance gigling and eyeing my big Johnson cigar. So being the gentleman that I am I asked the young ladies, if they'ed like to puff on my big stoogie. Well they got all flushed and skirted away. I guess they were intiminated by its size. This lead me to the question, Does the size of the cigar really matter, or is it really how good it smokes. Sigmund Freud |

since i'm lacking in creativity lately, i'll just bump this up. More comments about leather ladies, and no Long John that does not mean you. Scary thought. Leather Leather everywhere and not a whip in sight. Is it just me or does the smell of fresh leather on a women just bring out the animal in you... of course that could be on a man too(for the ladies) .... Parker. |
