It's In The Card

Nine years old now, it sits out all the time
a pleasant little card, one that is just mine,
a china doll on a seat, heirloom silk replete
blackest hair and china shy-blue eyes
on wicker stool, you can hear her sigh

the card front's words, denoting memories
a mother's recollection of echoes in the eve
now she calls me special, like she did back then
inside the card I'm her little girl
no matter where, no matter when

and in her Mom-scrawl, a running hand
she notes I'll never realize [she still commands]
how very proud she always was
of me, her firstborn, and it gives me pause
nine years gone, and these words still cause

a tear.

Nine years old now, it sits out all the time
a pleasant little card, one that is just mine.

Karilea~
Very tender, sweetie.
I still get the same feelings when looking
at my mother's lovely selection of cards
and the beautiful poems she tucked inside.
Thanks for sharing these special words with me.
Love you and send heart hugs !

Karilea, You sure tugged some heart strings with this.  Such a beautiful poem about such a treasured piece of life.  I lost my Mom almost 18 years ago, and I still get misty when I see or read something she wrote.  I love this, Bonnie

Folks, I'm sorry I missed your replies...I've disabled the "tell me" button 'cause interruptions are way to easy to discombobble my day anymore, so I was just checking out some lines and voila, here you are!

Thank you for your lovely responses...
