I'd need not to be clear hearted
Clear headed I don't need another ache
I would not allow it to have started
My heart does not need another break

So if I were going to need you
It would happen as it had
With heart's consent and open arms
Knowing I'm being bad

I'd say what I have said before
"I didn't plan for this to happen"
Declare my feelings right up front
Say aloud and with my pen

Need's a very strong word
It comes with lots of meaning
And after many years of adult
I'm much more into leaning

Picture two old seniors
Moving slowly down life's lane
Leaning on each other
Struggling with old age bane

I'm not that old, may never be
But the concept's good and true
Need is not the word I'd use
Lean is better for us two

If I were going to need you
I guess I'd be near death's door
And I'd want you to hold me
Just love me - nothing more

But standing tall and free now
I can love and take it too
I give you wings and roots to choose
I'll stick to you like glue

And that's a need I can't deny
Like sunshine and like rain
If I'm to grow as I want you to
We both need to sustain

I do need you

Wilfred,
simply delightful, as are you.

Expressed very well.
I've been there...oh a few times.
There will always be someone special that no matter what will be there even through difficult times.

Best wishes

Kathry-

a delightful response from a delightful poet - who could ask for more?

Dee-

I thought I rambled a bit - but thank you - call it stream-of conscious Poetry. Thanks

CAMERON-

That is the key - and the deciding factor - JMHO - thanks

Martie -

If I could touch your heart this once - It would - it would at least be a token for all the many times your poetry has touched mine
Thank you

Not only does he please us with his poetry he teaches us lessons in life as well.  Wonderful writing sir...and let me tell you....the message you send with it is all so true and leaning is the sign that a love has grown in friendship and that is when love turns to being "IN" love and those are the ones that last.

The leaning more than needing. I like that

What beautifully touching sentiments you've penned here Wilfred. The wisdom in these words speak clearly through these wonderfully flowing lines. Lovely!
