Twilight Sleep

At day's commence into surcease
this twilight sleep of in between
My futile feign cannot release
your tender touch, the ache of dream

The moon, as if my senses' sage
lends traces of its ivory light
A fire to fall upon the page
A poem this night alone shall write

I feel your breathing's ebb and rush
and hear the murmur of your moans
Along my back, your fingers brush
Upon my neck your kisses roam

And I, transported, linger there
within the realm of reverie
Between asleep and mind's aware
your arms, my love, embracing me

Claire~
So lovely and so longingly done.
I'm caught up in the twilight of your dream.

'I feel your breathing's ebb and rush
and hear the murmur of your moans
Along my back, your fingers brush
Upon my neck your kisses roam'

So sensually lovely.

Claire,

I love it...."Along my back, your fingers brush
Upon my neck your kisses roam"...so sensual...such longing....beautifully written, dear one.

I am so glad I took an extra minute to skim through a few recent adittions. Meadowmuse, this is FABULOUS.
A perfect display of the subtle diference between Sensual and Sexy. This is soft, alluring, and so lightly arousing. The imagery is amazing, the descriptions beautiful, and the rhythm is perfect.
If I could pluck out favorite lines without selecting the entire poem, I would rewrite them here to show you. This will be a constant re-read. Superb!

Marge, thank you...twilight sleep has always fascinated me...those magical moments between slumber and awake. Naturally, it's something of an inspiring time, as well.

Bill, you could most likely teach the class. Thank you for the smile.

Michael, what can I say but thank you? Your encouragement always means so much to me.

grandiloquent, I thank you for such positive commentary, and invite you to read any of my other pieces posted here...you may find them to your liking as well. Thank you, sincerely, for letting me know you enjoyed this, and welcome to Passions.

I always love to read your poems aloud Claire, because they are so incredibly beautiful to hear...this is tender, yet seems to ring with a hint of sorrow...absolutely wondrous work.
