the great ship's foundering could be heard across the raging bay sea, over the storm not even the fierce winds could drown the noise it was as if a thousand trees were breaking as the merciless waters pummeled the bow against the rocks of the desolate shoreline stood on the grey sand, mesemerized by the scene was a woman, in a long dark dress, hair swept by the winds into a long swirl she neither moved, nor breathed as she watched the sea elevate the ship and then pull it back down again into the merciless grasping depths the woman was powerless to do anything but watch and wait, and pray but the prayer she tried to cry out to God was stolen from her lips by the wind and in turn she sank to the rain dampened sands to watch the mighty Lady Versace and all her passengers sacrificed on an alter of water and stone but soon the waves gentled, and the winds quieted and the waters lay pieces of the Lady Versace at the woman's feet in a hesitant offering of peace |

Heather - welcome back from the depths - even if only for a brief respite - this is a very beautiful poem of tragedy and need. You captured the scene and the play very well, keeping me in hope until there was no hope. Superb presentation. |

I stole the idea of this poem from a John William Waterhouse painting of a foundering ship, and a woman powerless on the shore. It haunts me still. Thanks you guys! ~Heather |
