~LOVE ONLY BELONGS TO BUTTERFLIES~

Breathtaking butterfly cast spells with her charm
and plays within the vast land of dreams
wings-a-flutter catch the admiration of sunbeams
and steals the heartbeat away from daisies and cherry-wood trees
longing for her to sweep across their soul's essence
for a moment's ecstasy to touch her marvelous form
forever romanced by that of the butterfly
she captivates all as she glides by with her mystical chiming melody
for she's painted in brilliant hue -
pastel rainbow feathers of wings architected in dazzling detail
with the Creator's heavenly paintbrush of sparkle,
the embodiment of all that is perfect and beautiful,
never a tear will she shed,
never a pain will she feel,
never a sorrow will she cry out,
her gown of loveliness guarantees it so,
which only serves as a reminder to those less fortunate
with scarred spirits, broken bodies and ravaged faces
lacking in the elegant graces of a butterfly
and so it goes that ugly ducklings never become silken swans
to remain alone under charcoal weeping clouds and sullen grey skies
for, love only belongs to butterflies

Melissa,

You have portrayed the elegance of the butterfly beautifully my friend!!  They are such magnificent creatures and a joy to watch.  Great writing!

Thank you everyone for your kind replies, I tried to show how beautiful the butterfly "seems to be" as a metaphor compared to those who were born as moths who shall never feel love and the bitterness of never being that "butterfly"

Take care,

Melis,
this is a very beautiful poem...
wonderful imagery from your pen..
many well expressed emotions here..
but i wish to say...
all "creatures" are beautiful and special
in their own way..
a "plain moth" looks very attractive to another moth...
just as a honeybee...looks mighty sweet
to another bee
*winkwink*
loved this poem...
even tho the last lines are very sad.
take care

Now why do you suppose that a moth has that same pastel velvet touch on it's wings and flies to "LIGHT" up the night as opposed to just shining in the sun.  HHHHmmmmm....could it be that the butterfly may shine when put in the light but even in darkness the moth shows it's colors and heart.  Just a thought to leave you with.  Loved the penning and the thought that went into it.  Now our little "moth" tis time for you to "light" up the skies once more with your beauty.
