Sit right down and be ready,
Sharpened pencils—hold them steady,
There is more to Chem. than meets the eye!
During lunch, in cafeteria,
Bond Magnesium with Helium
You may form a major theorem
If you try!

Thanks to Father Mendeleev,
Chemists have a certain way of
Putting elements in order on a chart.
Any fool can learn and use it,
There’s no way to introduce it,
Chemistry is simply lucid,--
It’s a form of art.

Metals, metalloids and gasses,
Volumes, temperatures and masses,--
We apply them every day in life!
Take a look at your utensil,
There’s Lead within your pencil,--
(Metal, malleable, not tensile,
Density – 11.35)

Sweaty foreheads, eyes not blinking
It’s so good to see you thinking.
Aggravated, agitated, and confused!
As these formulas you’ll master,
Fields of knowledge will grow vaster,
Molecules will move much faster
When they’re fused.

Here’s the quiz, but there’s no pressure
Doyle’s Law says you can measure
Anything at all within this class!
If you know the composition,
With hard work you’ll reach precision
And with energy from fission
You will pass!

Formulas, O Master?  Ick!  (are we talking, math?)   hmmm...well, in my view of arithmetic, there are three kinds of people in the world--those who can count, and those who can't.

GROAN.  (sorry)

But I did love this poem, and I love the IDEA of chemicals, but alas, chemicals do not love me...Glad to have you back.

This is proof that you can make a darn good poem out of any subject!
I especially like that this was posted on the same page as The Tomato Slicer -- A poem about Chemistry class, and another about a girl slitting her hand open at work. Almost an ode to Sarah Lindsey (everyone, please check her out -- she's amazing).

Excellently done, Master. Hope to see more from you...

Cool look into your class!  So, tell me, how do YOU measure the String Theory?
