When you loved me I was special,
people looked at me different than they did before.
When you held me in your arms,
you granted me butterfly wings allowing me to soar.

When you said you loved me I felt special,
I felt fascination, inspiration, and at long last -- anticipation.
Your love gave my day promise,
gave my heart direction, granted my life destination.

Whenever I doubted I was special,
all I had to do is read your gifts of poetry.
So many beautiful words dedicated,
I still cant believe you wrote all those pretty words just for me.

When you loved me I was special,
then one day in your eyes -- I saw her reflection.
and in that moment I knew,
I was no longer the exception.

When I lost your love so special,
I wasn't prepared for the pain in store.
When I saw the way you looked at her,
I knew -- I wasn't special anymore.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
..."when you walked into the room...I saw their faces---
did you know--you made it seem like time was standing still...
and I felt---fascination...
though I only knew you then--just casually...
then you slowly turned and smiled in my direction...
and my heart gave me away"....
(Glass Tiger)
Now why does life have to be so SAD sometimes? So sad but so good... I know the feeling, but there's another feeling too... The feeling of "release" you get when you realize the other person isn't yours to worry about anymore. Sounds like you have some GREAT memories though'-)/
Once one has loved you then they will forever have that with them.  They will know of the taste and feel and the torment of missing you.  Love may not always shine forever in the ways that we wish but that doesn't meant that it always disappears all together.  Beautiful entrance in your poetic "FIRST"....so "officially" I welcome you to Passions as well lil sis.
BTW.....you ARE special in my heart and ALWAYS will be!!
A very warm welcome...........This was a beutiful poem filled with saddness but truth.  I agree with what Mark said.....I always wonder why the heart has to go through so much sadness but it is like the saying goes.....Maybe god wanted us to meet a few wrong people so when the right one comes along we will know. That is not exactly how it goes but close......
Take Care and Welcome.
I have been there and it really hurts.  Beautiful poem with feelings just pouring out.
Welcome to Passions
I must disagree, you are
not a shadow of poetry,
you ARE poetry
Beautiful poem!
You sent me into deep thought with this poem.  I could see the look and feel the loss... memories.  You pulled a trigger with this piece. Well done!
Welcome to Passions.  Looking forward to more.
Welcome shadow. . .
This one started a lot of thought. . . it's happy and sad at the same time. . . loss is very hard to deal with. . . but perhaps, it's for the best. . . you will know one day. . .
Wonderful poem. . .
