slant of eyes, always wide,
a look of wonderment--surprise--
  Papaya--
gift across the fence--
  everything
she says makes sense...
at least it always has to me.
and I don't speak Vietnamese.
a gift of presence, serenity,
in the morning, pulling weeds.
our gardens, one, save for a fence.
communion in the silence.

To my delight,
she spoke to me,
annunciated perfectly--
"you my friend",
her brown eyes light,
"I you love."
And she was right.

oh, jeez, Serenity. You brought a tear to the old Balladeer's eye with this one. This is so touching and beautiful and so perfect. You have touched upon the beauty of the essence of humanity here. I have seen this in actuality and it touches the heart....beautiful poem

I could WALK there to kiss you for this..
man oh man you are SO COOL....
ditto and double ditto everything Balladeer said...
ya made me smile so big with this one...
touching deep...reacing far
with this you are
I feel such serenity tonite...
must be a breeze coming up from the south
*winkwink*
and *kisskiss*

sweet sen sweet sen ...
how does your garden grow
with integrity and tolerence
with patience and compassion
all sun kissed in serene glow

thank you Michael, but this poem hardly does her credit...but she and I "clicked" right away and I'm very proud to be her friend...and it dawned on me that communication does not always require words...so what did I do?  tried to put it into words...go figure!

Lil sis--
It's amazing to me how much you favor your sister!  *wink*  Thank you as always, now go give her a hug for me, will ya?  (It'll keep yer hands off of the keyboard for a few minutes, anyway....ROFL...)  OH, and hey, "you my friend"  too...love you.

Wow S'en...I love the view from your
yard...I can see her looking your way and
seeing your shining heart next to her in
that garden...you are a beautiuful tender
woman...it shows my friend...it shows.
Love you girl...this is filled with so much
more than words....your gift of poetry is
flowing with love...

So nice when two people just click and become friends and you have shared it perfectly in your write.  Wonderfully done.

Holly--hug you to my heart, me girl!  and if my heart shines it's but a reflection of all the love of the very good friends that I've been blessed with...and I'm delighted to count you in...thank you, so much.

Mark--I thank you too...this is exactly what I was talking about...the love of friends...Hugs for you as well...

Serenity,
You've shared a beautiful moment, a beautiful friendship, and have written of it in such a soft and touching way.

This is simply wonderful Serenity, isn't it a shame that neighbors who both speak English can't get even get along, much less take the time to try to get to know one another.  You have tenderly touched many hearts with this one.  Bonnie

the eyes are the windows to ones soul, Friend love is the best kind of love. My friends mean the world to me and I don't know what I would do with out them, all though we grow apart we always find out ways back to each...
Thank you for putting it into words what a friendship actually is...

Great poem!  It's true, you don't have to speak the same language to love.  It's what's in your hearts that has to coincide, not how it comes out.
