Give me a "R" Give me an "E" Give me an "A" Give me a "D" Whats that spell? READ!!! Read me damn you. I have just as little to say as the next guy. Why are you reading him? Why not read from me instead? Perhaps, you want me to rant and rave half-assed philosophies? Should I tell you a story? A little limerick to make the time go by, would that make you happy? Read from me damn you! What on Earth do I have to do for you? Why are you not reading from me? Why can you never be happy? Just read from me damn you, that is all I really want. You know that right? I have nothing more to say than any one else. Doesn’t that interest you at all? I know that you don’t want to hear truth. Lies upon lies upon lies make you, your reality. I can feed more to you; I will be your Pied Piper. All you have to do is read from me. Is that too much to ask? Read from me damn you. Don’t just sit there all cross-eyed and drooling. You’re fooling your self. Read from me. Fine! Go ahead ignore me! See if I care. I don’t, you know? You can just keep walking away, marching right into the pits of incompetence. -or- Read from me… |

Boy ... talk about an attention getter! Great read Effigy! Powerful and to the point ... OK, I came, I read, I concurred! And all the while, happy to do so. I did enjoy this, got me smiling, for I think some of my poems do the same thing with all this wonderful traffic lately, it's a catch 22 I fear! Point well taken, and much enjoyed. I get to the end of this one and all I can picture is the scene from "The Lion King" near the end when Timon--mounted on Pumba's back--goes crashing into a crowd of Hyenas, knocking them in every direction. Timon jumps off Pumba's back and both of them look left and right, huffing loudly, as if looking for another target. That specific image--them looking left and right going "hooph hooph hooph" looking for their next target--for some reason seems to fit this piece. So, yeah, I got the point. I believe the most important component of a poem is rhythm. Rhythm is the heartbeat of a poem. It is what makes poetry poetry. |
