(complete rewrite 9/14/00)

As we sit and talk, I see you -and blink,
You touch me softly and I am smiling
A long blink - eyes closed more than an instant
I try to grin my most beguiling

As I return your gaze I see
You give a most curious look
"Why, did you close your eyes like that?"
Knowing that I'm an open book

I say, "Did you ever notice your cat?
Cats, , they do not blink when they fear
Moreover as a sign of trust
They close their eyes, it's clear"

"When you look at them and they close their eyes
That you have their love you should know
Like when they knead you with their gentle paws
And the love continues to grow"

As I return your gaze I see
A long slow blink then you show me
Before your eyes return open
A wonderful kiss shared so free.

Bill--Gosh, I never thought of blinking before...and the cat...how interesting the thought, and how loving the poem.

Hey, Bill... does this work with uncrossing the arms, too?  *veg*  I'm glad I caught this poem as it started its long terminal slide toward the last page.  back to the top it goes.

Paula-

I'm a romantic - and unapologetic about it   thank you

Martie-

I see cats showing love many ways - but myself - I'm still a puppy wet licks and falling all over thank you

Mike -

A great idea - a poem on body language - - lets both see what we can do with it   thanks

Nan-

So - does Nan have a cat - I assume?
Thanks - I'm not above using any idea to create a bit of verse
