The Final Lie My world lies shattered at my feet, _as last hope turns to lie. Numb from shock, confused and in pain, _blurry, red eyes still cry. This nightmare, I wish were a dream, _but it is real, I sigh. Half a lifetime of cruel deceit, _by family and friends. By lovers, mates, wives one and all, _left wounds that never mend. There was no room for any more, _one last chance, mine to tend. Carefully, cautiously I sought, _waiting for the right one. With but only one chance left me, _choose wrong, and I'd be done. My wait lasted for many years, _then camemy light, my sun. So very sure I was this time, _such joy and love filled me. My dream turned, into someone real, _so wonderful was she. Beyond all my expectations, _all her qualities be. Never had I been so happy, _filled with life's desire. I walked on clouds and felt alive, _with her kind inspire. My hopes and dreams all soared high, _her beauty lit my fire. I believed and trusted her all, _not one doubt crept to mind. I gave her my all, heart and soul, _knowing true love, my find. We reveled and rejoiced our love, _as friends and lovers bind. Then came a time, a year ago, _when things seemed not the same. From that time things only got worse, _I prayed this was no game. Yet my faith in her never waned, _until the day truth came. My world lies shattered at my feet, _as last hope turns to lie. Numb from shock, confused and in pain, _blurry, red eyes still cry. So tragic.... sad, but excellently penned... I hope you are lying about the final post though... we need many more like you around to keep our hungry eyes for great poetry well-fed... Thanks for sharing, regards, sudhir |
