Barefoot Trod

Why does this day down the sky,
the blue of it clouding
the window with heat
that takes frazzled thought
and twists it until it drips
truth?

Tenderness lies hallowed
beneath a willow somewhere
touching a rosebud mouth
and breathing perfumed air
in the spending of illicit words.

A cadence plays beneath the canopy
and beckons the singer to dwell
in harmony and cover its heaving mounded
listening sighs with shaded grace,

yet, the heat captures me in melt
and I dangle under the sun
waiting for dark truth to listen
and answer me with the moon
to magic all these clumping feelings
into feathered beguile
and jewel the meadow in soft

so that barefoot I can trod
across the depth of your ocean.

Martie

This poem is why I keep away from free verse as much as possible - the thoughts are so complex and perfectly stated - there is no way I could ever excell in this form - you intimidate the daylights out of me with the flowing, deep, complex way you write.  Simply beautiful.

Martie, please read LJA's note above, and end it with my name.    Your gift amazes me.

Martie, my friend~
I'd have gotten to this one sooner,
but I was tripping through the ocean.

Nekkid as a jaybird and barefooted to boot !

You do it with such magic.
Love it .... PERFECT !
