[Pets become an important/special part of our lives. I wrote this pet memorial tribute many years ago, with the loss of a dear cat. For me it brings back many pleasant memories--dlw] Farewell, our friendly, furry pal, Such a loving playful gal. A favorite flower, you were indeed- Even as thy name decreed! But as the flower's fleeting glory, This sadly too, became thy story: Too soon cut down, thy life departed Leaving us so broken-hearted! For your sweet Life formed our bouquet- Life was cheered by your display; You may us wealthy by your presence, In thy loss, but sorrowing peasants. No uncommon flower-one of a million, Much unlike your namesake given; But in the "field" you stood alone- So very much a paret--"our home!" Gone like the Springtime's flower spent, But who forgets the fragrant scent? Regrets? But one, our hearts do sigh-- Gone too soon, without a last Goodbye! WOW- another day of life-and here among friends! Ain't God Grand! |

David, (sigh!) What a touching, loving tribute to Daisy. I know the pain for you and Linda for I lost a dog who was like a child to me. (sigh). The writing and rhyme is flawless, very well done and enjoyed, as it brought back my own special memories. Marcy [This message has been edited by Alle'cram (edited 09-12-2000).] |

Thank you so much for posting this. I think it was a very honorable tribute to Daisy. I still have yet to put into words how I feel about my cat, but I am still working on it... you make it look so easy! Such talent. I'm jealous even I'm sure Daisy loved this too... and can't wait to see you again. "It was my love that did us both to death. " -Sylvia Plath |
