ghost of acquaintance ...

alone waits patiently for visitors that never show;
expecting companionship's knock anytime.

alone sits quietly for hours beside that door;
in hopes of friendship's soon, even late arrival.

alone paces heavily on worn wooden floors;
desperate for even a stranger's odd visit.

alone reads aloud for its silent audience;
expecting fawning praise to erupt everytime.

alone bleeds black from motivation's absence;
in hopes of inspiration's resurfaced survival.

alone chases fellowship's ghost of acquaintance;
desperate for familiar's embrace and remembrance.
