               Lust for Gold

Digger digging the golden dusty dirt,
Miner mining in barren smoky desert;
Digging in search of glittering gold,
Struggling with pain and growing old.

Dead El Dorado lies asleep in her grave,
With wayward men who once were brave;
Pervasive lures of vast riches and fame,
Greed contributes to mankind's shame.

Possessed by lust and personal pride,
Attracted by crowd of selfish strides;
Lustrous piece of gleaming shiny stone,
Blinds eyes in drapes of hungry groans.

Revelations like these were forever true,
Spoken and written, but never seen through!

Sudhir-My friend....I cannot not believe that this has made it this far without being touched BUT I am so happy to have caught it first.  This is so wonderful and so very true.....you have such boundless thoughts in this world and you share them all so well.

Mark, it is just a plummet phenom, I suppose... I shudder to think of the day when people would decide not to read what I write... but that is always a possible outcome, isn't it? like life, of course, that has to fade away... But, you, my friend, came by, read this one, and this piece is blessed with hope... ok, enuff of phil-o-sofie   ... What I mean to say is Thanks a lot...

Kethry, I am glowing with the glow-lighter marks all over my face in smiles...   Thanks

MA, I like the word nifty there... and btw I also suddenly remember an early (at Passions) poem from you.. somethng by the name of chasing fool's gold (if I am not mistaken...) that was incredible my friend... Thanks...

Martie... Thank you so much for the smile that you have given me...

regards to all,
sudhir

It seems like man's slavery to money and wealth has been going on for while, you would think that we would have learned by now. excellently wriiten and thought provoking as always.

"Greed contributes to mankind's shame."

Sudhir, so many excellent lines in this piece, but this one pulled the most. A shrewd bit of writing, my friend, and masterfully composed. I so enjoy your work.

Standing ovation Sudhir.      The imagery of man panning for gold is vivid.  Excellent write, as usual.

Sudhir - I really this piece - the telling of the desperate days, when fortunes were made 20 feet away, and grubstakes were gambled that the vein would not play out.  You've captured all of this very well.

Sudhir~
I love it when a piece of poetry causes me
to pause and reflect on a place, a time or someone.

This passed muster, sir !
Very adept are you at sparking thoughts.
