The Ancient Quill ~*Marge Tindal*~ Legends left on The Trail Of Tears scattered across this land It takes a Bear of strength to pen the words that reach my hand The Owl brings wisdom's thoughts to be seen within the quest Seeking visions from the past to lay my heart to rest Spirit Wolf circles stealthily watching the gathering of tales of old Of vision's sparks igniting a new fire consuming my soul Across the ages come the messages of bountiful lands of the past taken Panorama of peace that didn't last leaves me visibly shaken I am all who have gone before me of the legends to me availed I gather the sparks of ancient spirits to give purpose to their tales One feather quill from wing of Eagle dipped in the pools of my people's bloodshed I spread the ink so others may know that the past is never over just waiting to be told A path for returning to the peace moccasin footprints on the hill I search to find the words within this ancient quill ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Whitefeathers- You know my love for this type of write but more of the love for what I hold close to my heart is in this and from one of my favorite poet friends. I leave you with my tears of joy for you and a few lines from an old one of mine that remind me so much of you. Nature's powers are yours to restrain Use her powers with care and respect You praise and offer honor to all you gain While the rest of the world can only reflect You have taught well all those who care You have suffered much to those of greed The pain beginning when you came to share At the hands of those jealous of your breed Love you my natural spirit friend. |

Denise~ Thank you, lady. I sit the quest for visions of the forefather spirits - and must pass them on so that others will be aware of the coming of peace that will join us all as one. Oh, what an awareness for sharing. I appreciate your thoughts always. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Oh my gosh! I have to say, I was absolutely taken with this Marge ... has your spirit got a direct line to my house lately? I honestly had NOT read this until just now, and that was "after" I penned a little something just for you in my appreciation of your wonderful spirit and heritage. I'm so glad I came across this after, as it makes the amzaing links just that much more profound to me. Hugs to you Marge, for this incredibly beautiful piece! Best wishes, /Kit |

Oh Marge I'm really at a loss for words. Being part Native American myself this has touched something deep inside me. I sit here with tear filled eyes. Thank you for the experience of this and all it's beauty as well as pain. Hugs, Juls |

Juliet~ Our bloodline knows no percentage - we are joined through the blood that flows through our veins from the legends from the past. Thank you, sister for sharing your loving thoughts. Michael~ O'Siyo, my brother. Now you will come to know more clearly why your 'simple words' touch this heart. My brother, my friend - your spirt circles my being. Marge....spirit flows thru this ancient quill to bring teaching and knowledge...thank you my friend.... I leave a plea for forgiveness with you in response.....with forgiveness comes understanding and with understanding comes the peace we all seek. Buffalo Spirit An intentional military stratedgy nearly annihilated a species, Whose migration shook the plains like an earthquake. And the resonance of their sheer numbers, Was thunder upon the land. Hunters left in their wake, A battlefield strewn with corpses. Skinned and left to rot on the plains, By the hundreds. Pelts were sold in mass quantitles. Mountains of bones collected; Trophy photos taken. Aren't we the proud hunters? Look what we've done! But this strong spirit endured and survived! I have gazed into the eyes of this gentle spirit, And seen the power and majesty there. And I have wept for the folly of the past, And I have asked this spirit to forgive. Enotniecna SLR 1-18-00 much love and many blessings always Eno< !signature--> Words are my medicine. Read and live and love and heal! Marge~ This was awesome my friend. One should NEVER forget from where they came. This is a very sad, but unfortunately true story. This great country rightfully belongs to the native americans who dwelled here long before the white ever thought of setting foot on their great land. Wonderful writing!! Lone Wolf Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |

Enotneicna~ What a lovely forgiving thought you shared with me ... I thank you. We are of one spirit, my friend. With forgiveness comes a peace that we can live with. But far be it from me to be able to see the understanding of the carnage that nearly wiped out more than the buffalo. I have gazed into the eyes of the elders of the Native Americans and seen much sorrow. I pray for the peace that will rest the gentle spirits of the people who sacrificed so very much. Karilea~ You ride the wind my spirited friend. Balladeer~ I always appreciate the sincerity of your responses. I humbly thank you and acknowledge that my heritage pride gives me a better understanding of who I am and what I need to share with others. Thank you, dear friend. LoneWolf~ And the forefathers of this land were a peaceful and loving people who shared and paid a price so dear. I pray for the peace that will come to show us all that we are ONE ! Thank you so much for your thoughts. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Hi Marge, A true spirit of earth and heritage phrased so beautifully. I've had the pleasure of walking and driving some of the Trail of Tears route and I felt the awesome presence of where our native Indians traveled on their way to survival. Also, found a mound, (my secret place) about fifty miles from where I live. Come visit and I'll share my secret. Love, Marcy |

Corinne~ Often I have seen the touch of ancient sprirts within your writing, so I know you do indeed, hear the whisper. Thank you for walking with me. Martie~ My friend, you are aware that I listen and share the proud heritage - Thank you for knowing. Marcy~ I've felt for sometime that your soul has touched The Trail ... The greatest quest I ever stepped was when my feet carried me on The Trail Of Tears. I would love to share your secret place.
