The gatherers rose before light in small groups they clustered in search of summer berries and twigs for a small fire. What they found was peace in the morning-glory, gifts from the gods - in mushrooms peeking from beneath fern fronds. Simple in need gentle in thought, what a shock then when the hunters came bearing down with muscles taut, neck veins bulging in infectious frenzy, tools of terror raised high woven baskets tossed with sneers acrid scent of fear mixed with the bath of blood upon their skins. In the morning they felt nothing if they did, it was grunted away with movements of bowels nodding in growls of agreement - how easily righteousness comes to the Hunter. © 2000 Corinne Bailey |

What a vivid portrait of differences between the two personalities. I would be among the gatherers myself and I always seek the peace and harmony of nature and her gifts. Lovely write and nice to see you coming back among us. I miss your daily doses. |

Marge, thank you, dear lady! Mark, thank you, sweet gatherer. Wrote this about another poetry forum where people are bickering amongst themselves, the "hunters" chasing out the "gatherers" with displays of word power. I'll try to make it in on a regular basis, life has a way of making that difficult, as I'm sure you know! Corinne |

May the berry fall from the lovely berry plants, and may the apple tree gift its fruit to the earth Then this gatherer will make his round to gain the fodder for his survival by trusting purity of air, divinity of ground... ------------ Corinne, Each poem that I read from you, I gain an extra level of knowledge and contentment... These fruits of poetry from you are more delicious to savour... regards, sudhir |

Corrine stunning poem, when the hunters came bearing down with muscles taut, neck veins bulging in infectious frenzy, tools of terror raised high woven baskets tossed with sneers acrid scent of fear mixed with the bath of blood upon their skins excellent images, as always your poetry leaves a powerful impact. Corrinne, I, too, came from another site where animosity was a byline. When I found this site I was careful to not bring along those who drove me here. But, there were others there who I came to love as fellow poets, and letting them know of this site was probably my greatest contribution to the Forums, because all of those people are truly blessings to the spirit. Just as much a blessing as you, sweet Corrine. |

Yes, another great write by you sweet poet. Your deversity never ceases to amaze. I think their may be a few hunters here, but the gatherers are so fleet footed. I've never caught one..... I need a stronger net, or put down some sweeter bait. ![]() Parker |

Sudhir, thank you for the lovely poetic response! You are too kind, sir! Brian, thank you very much! LgnJhn, you were one of the first poets I noticed when I came here and have always been an inspiration to me (even if you don't like cats!) Park, nothing wrong with your net, dear! Corinne |
