We Are The Native Americans

We are the Native Americans.
We are the children of the sun,
the earth, and the waters.
We are the sons and daughters
of those before us,
the mothers and fathers
of those who follow.
We are at peace
with the living and the dead,
we are in harmony
with life.

We are the Native Americans.
We are the strength
and the pride
of the nations of the land;
the watchers and protectors of all
beneath the Sky Father's hand.

We are the Native Americans.
We hear the Eagle sing,
the wind blow,
the snow fall.
We listen to the beast,
and the plants,
the insects and reptiles;
we respect all things,
we are one
with them all.

We are the Native Americans,
prideful, strong, respectful,
guardians of the earth, dancing
with the spirits of our ancestors
as we fly with the Eagle
in his great circles;
his great Circles Of Life.

We,
are the Native Americans.

To shine the light on the future
we must first see the past.

to peace has been paved by the spirits
of those who walked the land long ago.

Be I the one that follow Marge
for I know not my ancestry in this life
in that perhaps I could have been
one of you

for the dreams and the lights
show that I am
but only to me
and such that all of us, we

would want it so
to have that pride
to in honor go
to show that side

Thank you Irish Rose, and Dark Angel, for the kind thoughts. And Sunshine...Marge is always a hard act to follow, no matter who we are...
and Marge, I thank your people for opening my eyes to many things, for the lives they led, and the philosophy of those lives. I try to show appreciation in the only way I know how...by writing.
