Earth 3rd Rock from the sun!!

0 posted 2000-09-07 12:43 PM

wind
blowing
curtains
through the open window
i hear the night birds
sing their song
not even their song
can help me sleep tonight
i thought of my childhood
playing marbles in the dirt
i thought of my dreams
so alive back then
i knew exactly what i would do
day in and day out
i knew what i would be
when i finally "grew" up
i believed frimly in wishes
made on dead dandilions
i believed in secrets between friends
never to be shared
i believed the lady bugs house was on fire
i believed the most fun you could have
was rolling down a hill in an old tire
now the days of yesteryear are gone
i am here, not sure where i belong
fun isn't what it used to be
longing to return to my childhood
where i can once again be free...

Julie :)

Nice Julie ann. So sad thought. Think everyone has a period in their life when they want to go back to what was simpler and easy. Going through that right now, too.

Time flies? Say it not so, time stays we go.

Beyond the sadness in this piece Julie I saw
something very very special......happy
childhood memories...you will always have
those to visit and those to hold
onto...nothing can take those away.
Beautiful writing~

MA....Thanks for the reply..

Cuddlez....yes thisngs get complicated and hard and we want to play....

BDC....thank you and I am glad you saw through the sadness and into what i was missing....my child hood was great...but I am not sure I would really want to go back...my adult has been better than my childhood...of course if we can't say that then we should do some soul searching...anyway thanks for the reply!!

Julie :)

The great thing about being a parent is that it gives you the right to be a child again.  Look forward to these days if you dont have a child because they will return.  Lovely write.
