Capture of happening

-- From the eyes of a greying actor from the silver-screen --

Glancing sideways into the reflectors
placed in the womb of the mirrored walls,
I find myself peeking at the me --
for a moment lost in self adulation,
glowing in late Summer twilight
of interspersed pieces of attitude.

Forgiving that moment,
I turned my egoistic self toward
the outside-faced window --
dismissing the oomph of vanity
as I saw the evening birds come flying
back to their nests after their forays into space.

I felt myself slipping in time
greying at millennium speed
as darkness of the evening sets
into the light of the day,
marking the unwritten words --
each bright spot has to end.

An actor on yesterday's stage
has to rid himself of his make-up
and popular skin to reveal what lay
underneath the mask of day's glamour --
the true colours from a fading skyline
when neon lamps pretend to be suns.

I slipped myself into my shell,
the pomp of few minutes ago
left as quickly as the light --
now shrouded in quietude and aloof -
with self-owned moralistic views
I stayed within myself glued, yet unstuck, true.

~

Sudhir,
Your imagination is endless and colorful. You pull the reader right into your poems and into your characters. I wonder if you have ever attemted a novel. I'm sure you would be as successful at that as you are at poetry
This is superb

Sudhir~
You are gifted with the ink of inspiration.

And I think Elizabeth had a novel idea !

Love you, poet.

Liz, Thank you so much... so kind you are... about a novel, I am gathering that pot full of patience... I write short stories though... presently working on one rather longish short story (Parts 1 and 2(revised) are posted in prose section) Thanks once again

Marge, you have the kindest words for me... Thank you...

This is definitely one of you better works but there are so many of them that it is hard to say which is best.  Martie is a great one to be inspired by and you have honored her with this piece quite well my friend. (now about that novel)

'dismissing the oomph of vanity'

one of the most interesting lines I have seen from you yet Suddy...

It works, it works...

Good poem my friend
