I woke early today
rested and content
until my feet
slipped over to your side
of that big cold bed
to find no warmth there
and then I remembered
you're gone
but today I didn't cry
(mental note: no tears today)
instead, I got up
turned on all the lights
turned up the music
made a pot of coffee
and sent your boys off
to their first day of school
funny though-
they didn't miss you
or realise you were gone
until we had no car to drive them in
so we walked
on this crisp autumn morning
and it was beautiful
aren't you glad
that you've left such an impression
on your children?

in ten minutes you'll be here
to fight
to dissect my words
and I'll remember
where you were when I needed you
I'll remember your icy heart
and my tears will freeze
and I'll give you the gift
of experiencing
winter in full force

Heather

I, too, am deeply saddened by this turn of events.  The poem was powerful, but, oh how I wish you hadn't received the "inspiration" to write it.  Good luck to you in whatever happens.

Once again - {{{hugs}}} and prayers I am so sorry - that this turn of events is the cause of such great poetry.

Oh Heather ... your emotions tug deeply at my heart in this powerful verse. "No tears today" though ... so I'll send you a hug, and wish you a happier tomorrow.

Best wishes,
/Kit

It always amazes me when a talented poet takes gut-wrenching pain and creates something wonderful... you've done that here... (mental note: his loss)

My thoughts are with you, Heather, and I'm sure no one can portray the ferocity of winter as well as you.....do it!

Powerful words here, X Angel.  He is not worth the tears you cry.  I hope your heart heals soon.  Best wishes to you.
