A Gift From The Moon

It has been one of those days
The kind of day where hope
Has seemed to wilt and fade way.
Home from work I drove
Feeling lost within myself
I looked to the sky with a frown
No moon in sight, no star’s twinkle
It was full of clouds.. a thick
Murkey haze hung heavy in
The blackest of night skies.
Just then, from behind the trees
Hanging so low I felt like I
Could reach out a soft hand
And touch it stunning brightness,
The moon appeared
The half crescent moon..
Glowing a pale yellow
Lighting up the surrounding haze
The dark clouds surrounding.
Trying to mask the moon’s glow.
But the moon stood strong.
It’s light penetrating through
The seemingly evilness that
Tries to blot it out, push it away.
I look closely at the moon
Admiring it’s strength . its will
To glimmer on… to share its splendor
The hope I’ve missed slowly comes back
The fight I need slowly returning
As I simply stare in awe of the beauty
What a pure and simple gift
Taught to me from the moon
Don’t give up.. don’t lose hope
Fight for your place in the world.
And always shine the best you can
