Author's note VB is Victoria Bitter,or beer. In my car at traffic lights, waiting for the change I saw an old man, what a sight, doing something strange first a wobble, then a wibble, I laughed at all his antics but he was grasping VB beer and he looked quite frantic Standing there atop the hill, wavering, would he fall I held my breath and sat quite still, to watch his folderol He clutched those bottles to his chest, holding them so tight then he wobbled off the top, disappearing out of sight down the hill all the way, I could hear his ouching, then he cursed for he hit the bottom and lay still, as both his bottles burst I pulled over to the curb, no longer could I drive as the tears rolled down my face and with breathing, I did strive I left my car, as he arose rubbed his battered rear looked at his smashed bottles, said, "oh no, me flaming beer" picked up his hat and gamely climbed up that hill anew I waited with baited breath, to see what else he'd do. he wavered out once again fresh bottles in his arms then he thought to stop and sample of their charms. opened up the bottle lifted it, and then… quickly overbalanced and rolled down the hill again as he bumped and crashed his way, down that hill so green I could his remonstrance in languages obscene. When he finally landed at the bottom of the hill, he simply rolled over and then lay, absolutely still I thought to call an ambulance, in case of injury as I approached I heard him mutter, a curt inquiry "have you come to help me, I'll tell you one thing clear," he burped and said, "hey lady. Don't touch me flaming beer." < !signature--> "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- [This message has been edited by Kethry (edited 09-05-2000).] |

Hi Kethry... Oh, this was great!!! Had to laugh all the way through....thank you, I needed a laugh today!! Say, I know Australia has good beer, but Alaskan home-brew runs a close second!!!! Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

Great poem... enjoyed this one... regards O Kethry, Sudhir P.S. If you can remove the author's note about the best beer blah blah... things would read much better... Australian beer is nothing compared to Belgian beer, unarguably the best in the world closely followed by German(from Munich) beer... ![]() |

Sudhir, Sudhir, Beloved one, How can you possibly justify that beer comment when Germans serve their beer warm, Still it is better than English beer which is both weak and warm.
