Beggar of love I am a beggar of your love Occasionally crossing your path As you rush towards your busy everyday life. I reach out my hand in the worn out glove, Eyes open wide, pleading, praying for warmth. Hoping to collect a node, a smily or simply a "Hi". Sometimes you don't even notice I'm alive. Brushing against my shoulder, passing me by, Ignoring the scream of my wide open eyes and I cry... Another time, you're so generous and kind. As if you notice the words scrapped on my sign, Like today, when you pause for a minute and stay... I feed on little crumbs of your attention. Your little crumbs are my only redemption. The only thing keeps me going, still I starve... I'm just a little beggar of your love. |

Hello LM, This is a wonderful poem and I really enjoyed it. So many people need so much love, it seems we all beg for it at times!! Great Job!! Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

LM~ Interesting tie-in with the 'beggar'. Sad. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

LM, I would have emailed you this, but you are not listed. I just had to show you how GPTA (great poets think alike) This is a poem I posted in July. A Poor Diet I attempt to survive without love. The lack of sustenance takes a toll. I waste away. I grow weary of begging for a meal. I subsist on the barest crumbs which you drop in my path, as you casually pass by. I devour them hungrily, yet still I starve Just had to share that with you. As I said on DP, I so relate to this poem, and you worte it beautifully. Sandra |
