In the quiet stillness before the dawn One lone figure breaks the morning stillness Taking that final lap sprinting that last length Pushing pushing to gain that edge Some say the gold is the goal Some say the record But ask the athlete and I think you will hear Its the knowing knowing you have been there Been there with the best given your all Under the flags of all nations You have stood, a representative, For all the world to see The tears that stream down your face When they play your nations song The pride in your heart when your fellow athletes Acknowlwedge your efforts not with a medal But with a hand on your back, a hug, or a smile This is why This is the reason This is the truth Of the committment [This message has been edited by Paula Finn (edited 08-30-2000).] |

Yes Paula! I agree, this is indeed excellent, as I knew it would be. Well done, and thankyou! "The heart and soul have no illusion of boundries when friendship is the quest" ~ My Angel. |

Paula this is so well done. I could feel it. Loved the dawn setting at the beginning and the sense of victory and closure at the end. Be well Kethry "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |
