Hey you! over there in the horsehair cloak Won't you come out to play You're wrapped in your sorrow and it's a joke I'm happier here in the day We could play soldiers all falling down And you could bleed for real Come on, come on, I'd give you the crown If, all of my love, you would steal Hey you, in the corner hiding away Won't you come out with me Come on! It's not night, but brighter than day When we play together, you see We could build castles, here in the sand You could, knock them all down You'd be a king, if you just take my hand I'd wear a blue ermine gown Hey you Mr. Sulky why don't you come out I'm tired of watching you weep If you don't start soon, there will be no doubt I'll play by myself, while you sleep We could play parents a mum and a dad Hey you, don't start to cry I'm sorry, I hurt you and made you so sad I forgot, your mum said goodbye Hey you in the corner, come play for a while It makes you feel better you'll see You know that I love you, Wow! Great. A smile. Now, come out and play with me. "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |

Hey, kethry, this is really excellent. Light and whimsical almost but it's also got some teeth in it expertly placed....almost reminds me in a way of Ring Around the Rosy, a children's song referring to the Beubonic Plague. Very good work.... |

Kethry, fantastic poem. Light and serious at once, as was said already. I loved this. Catalinamoon |

Balladeer - thank you I was thinking about a song called Toy Soldiers which has a similar theme to ring a rosy. Cat - thank you for the repeat. It's great when two poets think the same thing. Sudhir. I am the ear, you are the voice. Be well "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |
