In Philadelphia the crowds are large As proud Republicans are gathered here; Grand fireworks burst forth above a Barge Bedecked with dazzling lights dispensing cheer. The pomp and circumstance makes all the news Displaying but one side of life this week The camera doesn’t show more common views; All day the traffic seems like rush hour’s peak. The trains and buses packed beyond belief Make traveling to work a loathsome chore; A few more days of this and then relief As delegates depart from Philly’s shore. A fond farewell I’ll bid them with a smile “Please come again – just not for quite awhile.” 8/1/00 |

Oh Denise ... wonderful way to rid the frustration of the day! Smiling here ... so "you" were the one I saw on the news stuck in traffic with a fist out the car window! LOL Best wishes, /Kit |

this really makes one stop to think ... we do enjoy things that break up the daily routine ... but then we're just as happy to watch them disappear enjoyed ... thanks for sharing [This message has been edited by Rex Allen McCoy (edited 08-01-2000).] |

hehehehe....well, actually, I don't drive into town even on a good day. Nope, I was one of the ones squished like a sardine on the El and the bus.....can't wait 'till this week is OVER! Thanks for reading and replying, Kit! Glad it gave you a chuckle! Denise |

You snuck in on me there, Rex! Thanks for reading and replying! Yes, it is exciting having all the hoopla and news spots every night for my lovely city, but the crowds are very trying, I must admit. I'll be very glad when things are back to normal! Denise |

Sardines eh Denise? Any ketchup to go with that? LOL....I bet you'll be happy when it's all over with. As will many more I'm sure Hoping they don't come again anytime soon! <*\\\>< The will of God will never lead you, where the grace of God cannot keep you. |

hehe. This is great, Denise! Those behind the scenes looks that don't make the boob tube is where the story really is...but who cares? It's the old breaking the eggs to make the omelette routine....love the poem |

...hehehehe.....no ketchup, Rebecca, but the guy I was face to face with on the train smelled like mustard and onions...LOL Not a good week at all, Elizabeth, you'd wind up being as cracked as the Liberty Bell....LOL And there are plenty of broken eggs this week, Balladeer! And it's so hot and humid you could make the omlette in the street....hehehe I just wish I had actually gotten to see some of the big wigs, Prometheus, that would make it all worth it! My co-worker saw President Ford yesterday afternoon (right before he went to the hospital) coming out of the Rittenhouse Hotel across the street from where I work and she also saw Ronny, Jr. Well, maybe I'll catch a glimpse of someone tomorrow! Thanks for reading and for your great replies, everyone! Denise [This message has been edited by dsnyder (edited 08-02-2000).] |

Denise~ I can understand the desire to have them all go home ! That much 'big cheese' in one spot would sit well on a 'Philly' ! Yum .... now I know already what I'm ordering for lunch. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

A most enjoyable read... Wonder what you would write, if it were about Mumbai (Bombay)... where the crowd is a daily entertainer and chaos rules supreme... but thats the fun part... regards to you Denise, Sudhir |

Beautiful way to find order in chaos with the mightiness of the pen. (And a bit of comic releif assists as well, no doubt!) Fine job with this apt description. What a charming read you have here. With a long held breath given dark freedom, the single flame in sorrow's window flickers out. ~EWD~ |

Thank you, Jon...hehe...did I come across as frustrated? Well, maybe just a bit! Marge! That must be why I broke my diet the past two days and ordered a cheesesteak for lunch......yeah, that's why! Sudhir, I don't know how you deal with it every day, you must be a saint! EWDrake, yes, I've found the best way to deal with any emotion is to write it out of my system. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! Thank you all for reading and for such lovely replies! Only one more day to go! Denise |

Great poem Denise, and great expression of your frustrations. I know that if I were in your shoes, I would feel the same way too. Nathan |

Denise, well I guess I shouldn't complain when we grow from 60,000 to 200,000 people for the last two weeks of July for Cheyenne Frontier Days every year! Great poem. I enjoyed it along with a chuckle |
