I'll do your favourite meal tonight! So don't be late home dear..... I even said it twice As I was sure he might not hear. He left for work and I made haste With preparations grand, Determined that he would enjoy The meal that I had planned. I did the dusting, made the beds, Was out in record time And even took within my stride The hill I had to climb. On reaching shops, I got the meat Some wine and loaf of bread, I even bought a little tool That crimps pies round the edge! Then back at home I raced around To get the dinner ready, Looked high and low For candlesticks to keep the candles steady; And when it all was set and done, The table looked a treat. I dashed upstairs To make myself look good enough to eat! I bathed in bubbles, washed my hair And painted my nails twice; And in my short black dress I really did look very nice! How could he simply not turn up? After all my work and slog So, I went out for a drink........... And left his dinner in the dog!!! |

ROFLMAO-I know that the moment was not one to laugh at but the ending you share is one that I must do so for now. You have penned a beauty and I know that men can be so insensitive at times....I know because I am one and welllll.....we just dont have any good excuse. Loved it. |

Hi English Rose... Now, here's a poem that most of us girls can really get into!! I loved this, and you expressed some feelings that I have felt a few times!! Great job!! Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

Hi Debbie, This was a great one...I enjoyed every word. And your flow was very well done. Michael by Michael Auguste "But I am so like everyone<br> And everyone is so like me We cork our contents, lest they flee Until our lives are spent |

English Rose, what a story, this...I loved it! "left his dinner in the dog" how delightful! ~~ Oh Mark, really...no good excuse?? Yeah, right. Here, I think you'd better take off those rose coloured glasses you offered me earlier...they're ruining your perception! *Rolling Eyes* ![]() Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

Kudos!!!!!! The dog being more deserving usually... ![]() Great poem...as all women would have to agree at the insensitivity that men can portray at times can appreciate.< !signature--> Don't care what people say Just follow your own way Don't give up and use the chance To return to innocence. -Enigma [This message has been edited by sonjes (edited 08-27-2000).] |
