Sitting in Michael's Lap

Errant Muse

I rue my artist's aspect,
My gift become a curse –
My pen too long lay silent –
Too long bereft of verse;

By verbiage abandoned,
And faltering in rhyme,
I cannot coax my rambling
To poetry sublime.

If aught is truth in legend –
If Muses hold the key –
I beg, what moved my Patron
To take Her leave of me?

Was not my meter lilting?
Did not my phrases please?
What sacrilege was spoken
To cause Her ear unease?

Alas!  I have no answer;
For only flesh am I:
No Goddess judging verses
With scrutinizing eye.

Now I await Her favor --
This vain, disloyal Sprite –
With page and pen at ready
To win Her fey delight.

Even when your Muse is missing in action, you write great verse! Loved it!

No one writes more pleasing poetry than you (with or without your muse around).

muses are fickle things of fancy are they not? fabulous flow of form illustrated in this wonderful verse, skyfrye

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.

Kess, I'd be willing to wager that with this piece, as all your others, her fey delight is won.

So good to "see" you, and thank you so much for this gift of word, my friend.

Xeonox:  You are simply too kind.    I'm eating it up!  Thank you for the read and reply ...

Sharon:  Thank you kindly ... being without a muse AND my own phone line (for internet purposes of course -- I don't actually call anyone) has been quite a trial for me (not to mention Michael, but his muse seems to be much more loyal!)

Sven:  You're swelling my ego, my friend -- careful!

brian:  Wow!  That's quite the compliment -- and as far as my muse goes, you can have Her if you can catch Her!

Sunny1:  Perhaps I should consider renting her out, eh?     Thanks for reading ...

Fred:  Oh my -- *blushing*  At the risk of ruining my purist reputation -- plugs like that are the very reason I write!

Liz:  Maybe she's playing both sides!

Dee:  Ain't a whole lot that DOES stop me -- LOL -- much to the dismay of the reading public!

sonjes:  Indeed they are ... but like any woman, they wouldn't be any fun without the mystery, IMHO!

Claire:  So glad you stopped by, my friend!  'Tis always a pleasure to read your replies as well as your beautiful verse.  With any luck, I'll soon be peeking my head in here a bit more often ...

Thanks again all!

O, I've not seen this word so long
'fey' be of personal delight
and should I wave thy magical wand
your muse shall visit you this night!
