Arise

Aloft into the day's advance
o'er deepest grass of green
aloft we now, toward this dance
of currents unforseen

Aflight, awake and heathering
upon the morning's wave
aflight, the dawn lies feathering
across a narrow grave

Above, a pheasant frees the wing
as heavy lies the earth
Above, a hundred angels sing
rejoiced in brilliant birth

Arise, an infant's soaring soul
leaves mother to her grief
Arise, anew, and duly whole
beyond the brutal thief

You are amazing, how you write such sadness and couple it with hope, and so beautifully...sighs from me...I aspire...arise?  I'll think about that...smiles, claire.

Dear Claire,

Such heart breaking sadness I read here.  I'm at a loss for words, my friend.

What a moving piece here, Claire...you are one of the few poets I know of that can rhyme so wonderfully and make it seem so effortless.  And of course, the emotion, the depth of your words is first rate, as always.

Claire,

Borrowed from one of my poems, "darkness runs on little feet and in the shadows hides."  True hope casts no shadows and light pushes darkness away. Please forgive this second post.

Krista, I know of nothing more gratifying than to be told that one's literary work seems effortless. To me, that is one of the highest forms of praise. If you were to read your own work through the eyes of others, I believe you would percieve something very similar. Thank you, my friend.

Sven, what I find wonderful is the gentle nature of your words, both in poem and response. Thank you...

Michael, I thank you, dear, for your wee hour thoughts, as always. I am trying to remember another of your poems that also aligns with the theme of light pushing darkness. I have forgotten now, but will review and refresh. (Imagine that...me, forgetting something!)

Brian, I gratefully accept your "stunning" as a very generous and kind compliment. Thank you, Brian, for such giving words to me.

Miss Marge, I know that you are always moved by tenderness, a quality that I love about you. I nearly deleted this poem, as, in review, feared that it might be upsetting to some, due to its subject matter, but as a very dear friend reminded me last night, "You don't delete your feelings."  My thanks to you on this new morning.

Claire - one of the characteristics of your poem that really struck me is your choice of words - they walk such an incredibly fine line between what could have been used and not worked, and what was used and worked beautifully.  Each time it occurred, I was amazed at how perfectly the word you chose fit.  Does that make sense to you?  Every verse seemed.... right.  This is a terrific poem.

Claire,

I am close to being speechless.  This has to be one of the most beautiful worded poems I have ever read. You are an amazing poet.

LngJhnAg, I thank you, in earnest, for taking such a close look at this poem, and for the eloquence with which you express your viewpoint. And of course, for the "terrific."  Your words make perfect sense to me.

rosepetals, thank you for such a candid and encouraging response. I do appreciate you letting me know that you enjoyed this.
