These are reposts from open #5, on losing love and some of the pain. Any possible connection you may see with my life will be completely denied. Parker Promises and Paper Chains Paper kept in dusty places In cupboard drawers, on bedroom walls Promises made on paper chains, the ink long dried of a ceremony gone by, a reminder, of vows taken, I Read the scroll, and see her face a solemn promise is shaken the paper brittle, the ink is fading, how to break these paper chains of promises made in another time our simple lives, now so complex. James Parker Haley (c)1989 The Other I look towards the future I see the pattern of my life I've been steady as the earth She's been my constant star..... I had no thoughts of roaming life a plan with little changes and then I saw the other Her star so bright, the other fallen. James Parker Haley (C)1990 Of Love The kiss is sweet Our bodies meet We feel the touch Of Love In our Journey On roads smooth and rocky We learn our strength Of Love To the future We promise forever To give our Vows Of Love Down the Isle The Wedding recital We accept the Bonds Of Love The gold we carry To honour and cherish Is our Pledge Of Love When we throw away Those vows we say We release the Rings Of Love James Parker Haley (c)1991 Shadows Darkness grows each new day the numbing never goes away lurking in my deepest thoughts I want to run but I can not Coming from down in my soul causing pain wherever it goes sinking teeth at any time ebbing life away from mine I would fight if I knew how I can see them coming now not even the power from above can stop the shadows of your love. James Parker Haley (c)1992 I Lost My Love Today I lost my love today I am very sad to say I seen her walk right by with another at her side I lost my love this week and now I never sleep I seen them in the park where we loved once in the dark I lost my love this year and I can not stop the tears I seen her glance at me and she did not even see.... I saw my love go by and Im sure I seen her cry I know what she would say She lost her love today. James Parker Haley (c)1993 Starless Night I look into a starry night It reminds me of a poem I like "The Night has a Thousand Eyes" It conjures up a sadness I bare About Love and Trust, I lost them somewhere. Though I search and search, and my cries fill the air Deserted in Love, By a maiden so fair. I look into a starless night A thousand eyes have closed For the one, whose love has lost its light. Parker, what a sweet collection of tender and vulnerable feelings, laced together into sad poetic strands. I especially admired your "Shadows." Thank you for this special look into you. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |
