(I tried to be totally serious - but - well - for a verse or two 'lost it')

The moon's hazy orb
Cast her light on the lawn
Silvery with dew
A night love could spawn

Shoeless we danced
Wet feet in the grass
Slippery wet blades
We near fell on our knees

Music of spheres
Played a tango of love
Heard in our heads
Shining down from above

In the shadow of trees
Held you close for a kiss
In all my years
Never felt so much bliss

The band in the hall
Played a rock 'n roll tune
But we swayed to our own
'Neath that old cloudless moon

Scent of Mock orange or was it Viburnum
My nose deep in your hair
Clasping you close
We were in Cupid's lair

Did we float did we rise
To celestial heights?
Or did it just seem so
Was it one of those nights?

I know not nor care not
You were safe in my arms
I knew I'd hold you
Safe from all alarms

Shooting stars and bright comets
Their tails swarming by us
We trod the Milky Way
Polaris to guide us

On through the night
We danced till stars faded
Dancing on dewdrops
I'm so glad we're mated

Corinne-
I almost left out that verse - couldn't make it rhyme - would be too crude - or too dumb - but on greater reflection - decided laughter is and should be part of love - Thanks Corinne ~S~

Some favored passages:

Shoeless we danced
Wet feet in the grass
Slippery wet blades
We near fell on our knees
I heard the real message...
...
The band in the hall
Played a rock 'n roll tune
But we swayed to our own
'Neath that old cloudless moon
...
Did we float did we rise
To celestial heights?
Or did it just seem so
Was it one of those nights?
...
On through the night
We danced till stars faded
Dancing on dewdrops
I'm so glad we're mated
...

Thank YOU, Mr. Yeats!

What better way to depict the lightness of love than to allude to the whimsy of it? This is grand, Wilfred. Might want to wear kneepads next time.

Claire - Eddie -
Thank you so much -
(and I suppose on wet slippery grass - kneepads - and possibly other padding - might be advisable - Of course kneepads - could get us into a whole other forum
