The day had come as it does for us all
When they found Toerag face down in Fruit Loops
The breakfast table fed him his last meal
Should have ate more bran and raisins two scoops

But there Toe was drowned in two percent milk
With eyes glazed over in yummy goodness
Now at the table sat two more figures
Come to judge Toe's soul of its worthiness

The angel in white found much that it liked
The devil in black could work with this lad
Staring at each other here's what they said,
"Seems dead even! Equally good and bad."

Well this was unique, stumped they truly were
Till a deck of cards the devil did make
Five card stud ~ no miracles or curses
Such were the house rules for the soul at stake

They shuffled the cards, were ready to deal
When into the kitchen strolled a sweet belle
"I've got a stake to claim, so deal me in!"
"Sutherns the name. You must be Heaven and Hell."

The two figures looked at one another
And with a shrug asked, "What might be your bet?"
"Love" was her answer, pulling up a chair
"Should ether of you win, my soul's the debt."

Love had won both sides many a fine prize
So they took the deal and dealt her a hand
Down and dirty five cards without a peek
Between Heaven and Hell she made her stand

Heaven got its sevens, Hell went with six
Question was how many did each one get?
They both believed they held the winning hand
Though Suthern was still to look at hers yet.

"Boys," she said, "You might as well just give up
Because I know I've got the winning hand.
To prove it to ya I will raise the stakes!
My faith against yours to win this here man."

Faith was something that neither would ante
So folding their cards they blinked out of there
It was then Toe said from his cereal
"Morning Suthern. You playing solitaire?"

Suthern smiled as she looked at the cards
And told Toe to finish his morning mush
Then one by one the cards she turned over
To find a sweep of hearts in royal flush.

if only Toe and Auntie Suthern were here to see...

(if Suthern is my Auntie -- does that mean ol Toe is a Rebel's Uncle)

Ha yes... how I remember those days of wit and the written war.  I do miss our Toe and Lady Suthern.  Figured there might be one or two who remembered this one... good to see it was you Sir Balladeer and The Rebel.  Thanks for looking in guys.  Peace!

Lady PFF... I like to think my imagination is one of my better qualities... I'm glad it could make you laugh this day... I had a lot of fun writting this one.  Thanks for looking in and may image stick for a smile.   Peace!
