The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2000-08-22 01:15 PM

Perhaps I was a scribe
at the feet of Socrates.
Living, learning, writing,
a poet if you please.

Perhaps I was a maiden
in medievel town of yore.
There has to be a reason
for my love of Robins' lore.

Perhaps instead a princess
holding court to all the knights.
So many of them loved me
they were forced to duel and fight.

No, I'm sure I was a flapper
dancing wildly, drinking 'shine.
Else why would all the thoughts of them
seem like they're surely mine.

Perhaps I was victorian
so refined and delicate.
The tiny, lacy gloves, you see
are such a perfect fit.

I feel the soul of Scarlett,
a southern belle inside.
Awaiting handsome Mr. Rhett
although he made me cry.

Today I feel so very lost
no true identity.
I wish somehow I'd learn the truth-
which one of them is me...

Sandra.......
I think, perhaps, you were all of them....your vision of their lifestyles is too clear for you to not have been them at some point in time! But, I like the flapper the best!!!  Great writing, girl!!

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

Somehow, sometime, all poets search for this...Not sure if you were looking in Open Forum 8 at any time, but from me to you, I share these thoughts...

Your piece is lovely...pleased me much!

Never too lost to find the new you.  Just more choices and somewhat harder to find.  Maybe you are the next question in someone elses dream...well written.

Your probably the most beautiful of them all. Cinderella or the princess is what comes to mind and I'm sure the glass slipper will always fit for your prince.

CatalinaMoon~

I am the multi-faceted being
of others who were before.
The silhouettes of many
walk in and out my doors.
Everyone I was
or ever hope to be
resides within my soul
to live again as ME !

*A write that stirred me !
Thank you so much for your thoughts.
