They say my heart is harder than the badge pinned on my vest. They say a piece of granite stone lies cold within my breast. They say I’d break before I’d bend, because of stubborn pride... They say I have no feelings, and at least that time they lied. She could not say, “I love you”, though she felt it in her heart. Her stubbornness cut me so deep, it tore my soul apart. I saddled up my pony, started westward out of town... And heartache, grief, and anguish hovered just behind my frown. I will not bow my knee and beg, nor will I give up ground. I’ll saddle my own horses, even if they throw me down. I’ll speak my peace, and take a stand; and die if that must be- And yet I’ll die with pride intact... the price of being me. Pride, they say, will lay you low; will put you ‘neath the dirt. And make you saddle up and go, no matter how you hurt... Call it what you will, friend; it’s a part of being free. And free I’ve lived, and free I’ll die; the price of being me. Visit My Home Page http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/Hompage.html |

Don't know that I have ever read anything of yours I didn't like, this is certainly no exception. |

Your poetry, both rugged and tender, pleases this admiring reader, dear Troubadour. This is grand. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |
