Totally shunned by the public Left to wander the alleys and streets Looked upon as dirty; and despised Critique and criticized by everyone you meet. You push your life down every road And sleep virtually anywhere you can The music of the streets crescendos And the sand bites from automobile blown wind. You grapple through despicable nights Battling critters, varmints, and roaches for space Awakening every morning, determined to go on in life Wondering where you may receive a free plate. And while you limp and creep along your way Famished and torn from utter neglect Trying to make it through another ill-fated day While people treat you with no respect. Garfield |

ggrn3 You paint a sad picture - but from my own experience - it is a true picture. Well done! didi |

"And while you limp and creep along your way Famished and torn from utter neglect Trying to make it through another ill-fated day While people treat you with no respect." The portrait you've skillfully depicted here certainly is realistic. Having worked with folks who are struggling to live through each day, I see much truth in your verses. Thank you for voicing what so many of us don't seem to want to know or do anything about. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

strange how life feels more real when you're "down in it" like that.... you've told it well... Tony ![]() |

Rosebud, Claire, Mark, P.Shadows & T.McCoy Thanks for the comments guys. I witnessed this first hand in Atlanta Georgia and my heart went out to these homeless people. So yes, this peom is based on real life, real people. I'm happy that I could capture this in poetic verses to share with all of you. Again thanks for the comments. Garfield |

A powerful read, ow I know this feeling of alienation. very well written. "Beyond all this good is the terror,The grip of a mercenary hand,When savagery turns all good reason, There's no turning back, no last stand,"I.Curtis |
