White Feathers

A
long
feather
of  wisdom
     filled with
               delight....
  Each  new verse
carries within it a
longing  into  night
A caring of the soul
wisps a heart so pure
One of a life that many
proud people must endure
A long feather of  heritage
blown through hurrying winds
Dancing across  the memories
as each cloud of pain descends
Trust  in the beliefs of the land
where once a lifetime it did give
Rests many songs of the Cherokee
Where forever  the spirits shall live
A long feather of wisdom and love
sent breezing through our hearts
Gifts to us from the heavens above
rests into one soul as it will depart
Teaching of wisdom in a wonder
through her natural given grace
A soft gentle hug from her mind
kisses caressing  youthful face
Tortured paths of the braves
washed red eyes of tears
Bounded by the wars
of white mans
fears.

Mark, this is very beautifully written and presented, and is a magnificent piece about the essence of the cherokee. I'm sure Marge will either shed some tears or jump in the street with joy at this wonderful piece

Oh, Mark ...
How you touch me gently with such beautiful phrases.

The presentation is such a joy to this heart.
The phrasing speaks so tenderly to me,
as you knew it would.
In softest voice of this Cherokee ...
I love you for such sensitivity.

You feather me with honor.
How can I ever thank you ?
I hope it goes in 'the room' too !
Love you~

Mark - this is incredibly outstanding!  There was some REAL work in this poem - You are just the person I need for a poem I want written about two kitties fighting over a mouse while floundering down a river filled with ice floes.  A word picture would be nice.  lol

I really really like the presentation and the way you made those words fit so well.  Great writing!
