Ebony phantoms twisting < !signature-->Through sinew of the sky Showered by the toxic tears That poisoned angels cry. Murmurs haunt the icy air Whispering with reckless ease Blood falls thick in ruby veils Forming ringlets on the breeze. Sable satin flutters softly Torn by stabbings of my mind ‘Neath graying slabs of granite night Shreds of soul I find. Tawny arms of decaying wood Form a skeleton of broken dreams A place once clothed in rainbow light Now no more than rotting beams. A chiming giggle floats in thought Her innocence short, so fleeting I watch her now in memory Blood spraying from the beatings. Tiny body, swollen, dead I held softly in my arms My sister’s spirit is gone from here And no more can she be harmed. The phantoms now, they come for me Their eyes shine raven dark With trembling skin I feel them near While the shadows make their mark... You always lose by holding back." -Barbara DeAngelis [This message has been edited by Alwye (edited 08-17-2000).] |

Wow.. this is without a doubt the single most darkly haunting poem I've read in a long time. I'm also ever so glad this doesn't stem from personel events... Greatly enjoyed this verse "Tawny arms of decaying wood Form a skeleton of broken dreams A place once clothed in rainbow light Now no more than rotting beams." Greatly adored that one, cool image... Enjoyed this poem much sweetheart. And loved the last verse too, great ending! Abrahm Simons "Keep on dreamin' boy 'cause when you stop dreaming it's time to die" - Blind Melon |
