A Woman Like You
©2000  Christopher Ward

     The next woman I love
will be just like you
Challenging my mind
kind to my heart.
     Like you,
she will smile through
eyes of azure hue
every time we meet.
     Like you,
she will caress my turmoil
with the wispy
kiss of her sighs.
     Like you,
she will know
there is no need to speak
in the comforting
sanity of silence.
     Like you,
she will hold me close
in dreams and starry nights
dancing shadows on the walls.
     Like you,
she will share my aches
knowing they pass
in fits of inspiration.
     Like you,
she will share
in the sanctity of togetherness
as one we thrive alive.
     Like you,
she will touch me
daily, without the need...
to ever really touch.
     Unlike you,
she will stay.
     Unlike you,
she will love me
     ...forever.

Ok Chris,
Most things about the next woman you love will be as one you are speaking to, but you say the next one will be more towards perfection perfect... what an encouraging thought... can I believe such a thing, I know not, but currently I can agree that this one is well written with your unique style... in other words you have put to paper what you want from an ideal companion... how smart...

regards,
sudhir

This is beautiful, tender and......yep I'm
going to say it...Sensitive   You've shown
your heart in this piece...not that I
doubted you had one...you just keep it under
tight wraps.  The loves of the past show us
what love is and isn't supposed to feel like
and what we want and don't want...something
to be said for broken hearts I guess.  When
"She" come's along she'll love you like
this.....and more.  Beautiful writing S.C.'s~

And thus it is interesting to see the various interpretations of a poem.   No interpretation is "wrong," but I will say that BDC came awfully close to what I was thinking when I penned it. (Don't go getting a big head now H.)

James, Liz, Sharon, thank you all for sharing a sleepless night with me!

S'en, hun, if only you had that power...

Sudhir... thank you kind sir for your comments. I think my perfect woman will be one whom I love and am loved by. Other than that, I only have a few thousand requirements!

Marge, yawp... another one of them tha'r "f" words!

H. - You, lady... LOL... Yeah, I suppose I can be sensitive, but let's try not to emphasize that point, k?

Thanks all for reading and sharing!

Chris

Christopher,

Nicely done, Sir.
A little intent, a little disillusion,
and evidence of a heart willing
to reach again. You have wonderful style.

Very heart felt indeed. I do beleive that saying, "Maybe we were ment to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift."
I really enjoyed.

Christopher....I am sitting here crying over this one. You have outdone yourself with this. So sad but yet so beautiful and although it speaks of loss, I believe it also speaks of hope. I hope all is well with you my dear friend.

Beth - thank you for the time you took to reply!

K - Umm, me get a big head??? Thank ya muchly!

Mark - I won't... only problem is that she'd have to, to take me!

Tess - Bittersweet indeed, as is much of life! Thank you for the response!

EWD - Thank you, but when you called me sir, I had to lok aroudn for my dad!

Krista - Exactly! And I figure that by the time I'm 90 or so, I should know exactly what kind of woman I want!

Maureen - (cool name!) Thank you... sometimes I do as well (obviously ) Sometimes it works out well, and sometimes it just annoys...LOL Glad that doesn't seem the case here!

RUTH!!! - Hello my friend, a face I've not seen in a while! It does perhaps seem a bit melancholic, but I think more in a wistful rather than saddened way. This does speak of hope, though with an ironic edge to it. VVERY good to see you around. Should e-mail me sometime so we can catch up! (((((HUGS))))) back!

Claire - Now that m'friend is a very good point. When I was writing this, I realized that it could seem to be very selfish...which it is in a way. But I also wrote it, knowing that all the things I wrote of were all the things I too would want to share/do. Thank you lady for pointing that out!

courtney923 - Me too!!! Thank you!

Devina - You know... I'm not the only "stubborn" P.I.T.A. around here!   Thanks lady... I think...

Corine - Thank you for reading!

Kit - *where is she where is she* LOL, thanks bunches! If I find her, well, I'll have found her, right?

Very well thought out Christopher.
I think I know what you are saying here.
I have has much the same thoughts.

You were right.  And I was right.  Hopefully most of the people who have responded to this are also right.  I would write more, but I think I said enough already.  And I think most of what I want to say has been taken from my thought and put in your words.  Yes, I am not only a sheep, but cryptic in my meanings as well.  (After the last response to your other poem, I thought "cryptic" might be a good idea)

You know. I know.  What else is there to say?
