A discussion about. . . . . . ellipses. . . Here's what dictionary.com says: quote: I'd like to hear all opinions on the subject. . . especially. . . when do you think that it's proper (or should I say acceptable?) to use them in poetry and/or prose?? Please feel free to illustrate with several thousand examples as well. . . Thank you. . . -------------------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Prose...? All the time...when I am being conversational...in writing...hmmm.... 'Aren't you listening to me? Stop interrup...' 'Of course I am listening!' Indication of an unfinished sentence. 'Everything was quiet...too quiet.' Emphasis for a dramatic moment. What the dictionary said.. heh K |

so, if ellipses is plural for ellipsis, what is plural for ellipse?... and if you wanted to use the plural ellipse as possesive?...and... There is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar. |
