Memories By: Amy M. Kennedy Memories of a different place, of a different time Racing faster and faster through my clouded mind A chapter I thought I had closed forever, only to find it very much open A heart I thought that had been mended, only to find it still quite broken So many things have changed since then, so much time has passed Tempo is forever changing, as time goes slow then ever so fast Hazy memories of childhood I barely can recall, then some clear as a bell Bitter sweet memories, some more like living hell I have tried to erase the thoughts of you out of my head But still the words play over and over, the words that you said "I love you, this is what is best, it's the only choice that's fair to you So then why is it still after all this time so hard for me to understand, even though I know it's true Childhood memories, painful and dreams shattered A sense of belonging, in a split second was scattered And as the hands of time keep marching on Dawn turning to dusk, dusk turning to dawn I close my eyes, and try wishing the pain away To save it for a time that I don't feel so weak, for a stronger day However try as I may I can not erase the past, though try as I might And I can't hold out much longer, about to lose this fight Though I am happy now, and things are fairly calm Still the memories in my head, they continue on and on So strange that a part of me has fogotten you, and another part of me never will For the day you gave me up, time for a moment stood still ~This poem was very difficult for me to write. I was given up at the age of six, and even though seventeen years has passed...I still carry many emotions with me about it. I am adopted now and have a wonderful family. I am truly blessed! Thanks to all who take the time to read it!~ ~Live today as though it were your last but prepare for tomorrow as though it were here~ |

Very emotional piece of writing. To me to give up a child would the hardest thing a mother would ever have to do. I am sure that wherever she is there has probally not been a day she hasn't thought of you. |

My grandmother worked at an orphanage for most of her life ... the stories she could tell, of mothers bringing in children that they loved dearly ... but no longer had anything left to support their child It breaks my heart to think back on these stories There again ... not all children came to the orphanage in this manner ... there are stories of a different type that also break our hearts One thing that she talked a lot about was the intense love that developed in adopting parents as they got to know their new son or daughter before bringing them home Rex}<{{{{o> |
