I have been told that "Kaeru" is a Japanese word that has at least two meanings. . . one is "Frog" and the other is "Safe Return". . . if there is anyone out there that can help with this, please let me know. . .thanks! Little Kaeru, what songs do you hold? Tell me that she loves me, would you be so bold? From your mouth to my ears Sing the Melody I long to hear Sing to me of a love yet to be told. Little Kaeru with skin so green Her voice you have heard, her beauty you have seen. I know her hair is golden spun With eyes like pools and fair like the sun From her fair charms, I long not to be weaned. Little Kaeru tell her of my heart Tell her that from her I never want to part She is the song of my life A haven from the noise and strife Keep me safe as my return to her now I start. ---------------------------------------------------- That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |

Not sure of the meaning to Kaeru but you've done a wonderful job with this poem. Good to see you again, Sven. I missed you in my absence. Michael |

Well from what little I know LoL, KAERU NO UTA means (Song of the Frog) where kaeru means frog..I have also heard that the Japanese word 'kaeru' means 'return to the place one should stay'...But like I said, I don't know much, you might want to talk to someone who speeks Japanese LoL. The poem is great anyways though! Just be glad I'm not your child! *evil grin* |

You guys are right on the Japanese but it means a few more things as well (it's one of the reasons that the Japanese written language still uses Chinese characters, or that's the reason they give). Brad |

SvEn- Imagine ME finding this poem on a frog posted here ! Just yesterday while driving home, the poem below came to me and I didn't understand why ... perhaps I do now. How could this have been my inspiration, when I didn't know you'd written it yet ? Or did I ? Little frog sitting on a lily pad in the great big pool of life. Singing his little heart out, croaking into the night. Big lily pad a'floating out across the pond ... little frog singing another little froggy home. Two frogs sitting on a lily pad out across the pond. Singing a duet until the morning comes. *Believe me ... I do NOT know where this came from. Maybe a Kaeru spirit sent it hopping my way. ~Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

I've had many years of Martial Arts..and you tend to pick up a few words or phrases....Kaeru does have many meanings I'm sure, as most Japanese and or Chinese words do....Kaeru also means to "Go back"...as in, try again, or to go home, go back home etc...as far as the "frog" thinggie....beats me?....Maybe in a Japanese restaurant?...as in, "Kay, ru want flog Regs?"..LOL..but interesting poem my friend....
