A Man of Few Words He is a quiet man of thought Not eager to divulge in speech The inner peace within his mind The splendid thought within his reach For words confuse a precious thought Assume a posture of define But he would rather keep to self And sip the pleasure of the wine Reflection needs a place to dwell A solitude to wander free And conversation takes away The way to simply think and be He is a man of silent days He claims that he is just recluse But I would wager that his hours Reap rewards of better use Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 02-23-2000).] |

"For words confuse a precious thought..." This line reminded me of another from THE LITTLE PRINCE-- "words are the source of misunderstanding..."--a favorite of mine. I read everything that you post, Elizabeth, and if I don't reply more often, it is only because I am always left speechless. A great admirer of yours. |

I have to say, being a very quiet person, people so often manage to mistake silent thought and acute observation for a vacancy of spirit. Anyway, this is a beautiful poem, another close to my heart!
