HOLDING ON Why must one question where I'm going? Or question where I'm coming from? If destination I'm not knowing, To darkened past must I succumb? What truths I hold deep to my heart, Why must others yet misperceive? Who dares to think in whole, in part, That love in me I misconcieve? Who challenges the wall of virtue I bold upon stake my belief? Who dares deface me as untrue To be the cause of my own grief. Shall I lay back to drown on sorrow, That love may meet heroic death. Or stand firm to save our tomorrow, From deception upon thy breath? That I may look for brighter skies With the storm ‘er encircling me. For who there has heard my stifling cries? Who there has helped to set me free? Certainly not you who lay in judgement After the fact, dealing your blow. Don't question my love, my testament, To hold on, sometimes you must let go. The last line of this speaks my own heart. We have all at one time known pain, to let go is to truely know love. The question I have is how do we accompish that? For in letting go of the dreams we also to let go of the pain. |

All I can say is fantastic writing, expression, and form. The strength of your conviction really comes through. Our personal taste and feelings cannot be guessed by another. |

Shall I lay back to drown on sorrow, That love may meet heroic death. Or stand firm to save our tomorrow, From deception upon thy breath? ******************** If I had to pick a fav. part it would be that. It's kind of like "to be or not to be" Excellent job! |

WOW! The last line really packs it home. You've two outstanding poems today! Way to go. Not that all of yours aren't outstanding though ![]() Your talent always shines, through happiness, sadness, or whatever it may be. Excellent! <*\\\>< There's only two ways you can go... Michael~ Hold on to your talent .. it shines ! 'For who there has heard my stifling cries? Who there has helped to set me free?' You already know the answer, Michael. God and your friends have heard. God has set you free. Your friends have joined you in love and comfort. Wonderful, just wonderful. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Michael, I'm not going to say that I see you are healing, I'm not going to say it's wonderful to see you coming 'round, I'm not going to say that there's a lightening in your words, but I am going to say, hurray! Corinne |

Devina, Yeah - things do surely happen for a reason. To call this a learning experiance would be a dire understatement. Just glad there's an element of forgiveness in the air finally. Just glad to be able to smile... ![]() Marilyn, you are wise beyond my understanding. Still, I feel in letting go of dreams we give birth to hope. If I know anything, I know nothing is etched in stone on either side of this slate. I won't try to guess at what the future holds - but I do know it holds nothing for those dwelling in the past. a sandgrain, you read the messagfe loud and clear. No, they cannot. Marge, Yes, I know the answer. I can't thank God or Passions enough for the strength and hope they have given me. Everyone else who replied, my sincerest thanks. Michael |

Michael - excellent words, with strength, and courage I think - it is hard to learn from our experiences yet learn we must. ![]() 'Writing sharpens life; life enriches writing' Sylvia Plath [This message has been edited by Severn (edited 02-23-2000).] |

michael, I have not been with you guys long, but I feel that this poem has more depth in meaning and shows your ability as a writer more than any single poem I have yet to see posted. Good god you have some strong lined and conveyed emotion/frustration. Sorry that I have not an adequate description of how good I think this is. A real man kisses his children goodnight |
