Childhood memorie's of sweeping tree's Weeping willow's swaying in the breeze The water slowly trickeling by The sun beaming down from a pale blue sky Lazy day's swinging from a rope "splash" into the water we would hope Picnic's we would pack for the day and by the creek we would stay Until the last daylight beam would disappear and then we would pack up all our gear Off we'd trek homeward bound To show mum all the things we'd found The dark of night would finally fall And "off to bed" mum would call But soon the sun would shine once more So we'd pack our bags with food galore And off we'd go to the river bed To enjoy the day we knew was ahead |

I love this poem! I can picture being there. This touches me even more because I always wished I had a childhood like this one. I hope my three children will grow to write a poem like this about their own childhood memories. Grant that I may not judge my niegbor until I have walked a mile in his moccasians Native American prayer |

Christie what a reply I thank you. I had a most fortunate childhood living in the in Australia out in the country and I'm still living in the same town as I grew up in, of course it's much bigger now. I had great parents and brothers & sister and my extended family were wonderful as well, this i'm very greatful for. |

What a happy, carefree poem about childhood. It makes me think about my own weeping willow, and the joy of being adventurous when I was young. Although it wasn't forever ago, sometimes I forget how simple and carefree it was. Thanks for the memory tracie66. |

Such wonderful childhood memories you have. I remember living in Florida for three years and the ocean was only a block to our left and the woods ran endlessly behind our house. We would spend every free minute at the beach or in the woods exploring. And I have many more wonderful memories when I was young. James |

Tracie~ What a lovely nostalgic stroll through childhood. I have memories that are much the same. I made it a point to see that my children also had those wonderful thoughts to someday share with someone they love. Thanks for this. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Tracie this was wonderful, Aussie childhood memories. Where in Victoria are you? Really enjoyed this homegrown tale May the world hug you today, With it's warmth and love. I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart, That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world, Wishing you well and wishing you love...... ~Isis~ (Goddess - Sovereign of the Spirit) |
