I don't know how i've been surviving, In this cold and empty world for all this time. I've been searching and crying. I've been hurt and dying. Looking for that very person that could keep me alive. There are many things i wish i didn't do, The are many situations i wish i didnt go through, But everyday i pray that someday my skies won't be as gray, and that when i open my eyes, i won't see a man, or all those people pointing at me for not seeing the magic behind the secret, and feeling blue, cuz all they can see is a guy without a clue. And once again, i travel on the same lonely road, feeling empty and different, but not because i've killed or because im cruel, but for daring not following societies so called rules. So today i've finally found peace, in my heart at least. I've gone to a better place, where i can just be free. And i'll rest from a life of pain, hoping people will one day open their minds and make the world a better place, or at least judge us not for what we are, but maybe for the mistakes we've made |

Wonderful poem! I too wish everyone would stop judging other people. What does it matter what a person looks like, who they worship, how they choose to live their life? We are all in this life together, we should be friends not enemies! I've not had a chance to read your other work here so I'll just say welcome to our family! Please let me know if you have any questions. |

Something chewey for my head this morning. This is deep and full of despair. A cry. A want for more out of life. More out of people. You write of these thoughts so easily, with poetic rhyme plus a hint of free verse. Interesting. |

...and we've all made mistakes, but those mistakes are not who we are. Wonderful poem, Rod, and welcome! Keep writing! |

Thanks everyone for your comments. But this poem isnt about me, it's about a report i saw on tv about how gay people are treated today ,and that 15% of teens that commite suicide are confused about their sexuality, which is a result of a closed minded society. Thank y'all Rod |

This is nice writing on a difficult subject. Societal rules are probably the basis for many of the suicides not related to sexuality. There is something terribly wrong when young people are so confused, scared, and desparate that they decide to commit suicide. I posted a poem in Dark Passions about a friend who committed suicide that speaks to this issue. The country needs less judging and more loving! Danny |

I ditto Danny on this one...society has always placed perfection of their own mirror image above all else. You've done wonderful to describe your own pain...just remember- never lose sight of yourself, only certain few ever really find their own true meaning. Now that you've done this...live and let live m'friend!!! Open arms can be the most fragile in the world... |

Yanno Rod....I have a relative that's gay...and he's one of the finest folks I know...I have a very close friend that's gay, and he's also a fine person and so very talented.....I feel very sorry for what they encounter everyday, I know both of them hate their lifestyles, and both suffer from depression....I have mixed thoughts on them, but don't have any ill feelings towards them.....I think they have no choice in their preferences, and God knows I'd be the last to throw stones. If what the Bible says is true, they are sinning.....and, if there's not one sin worse than any other....they're all sins, heaven forbid that I'd ever judge anyone, (except maybe Balladeer and LongJohn...), cuz I've done (in my opinion), the worse sin imaginable at taking human life....but, we all have to live with our past, and sadly, these folks have to live with their pasts and future...... |

This poem is great, I don't know about you guys, but in a few years, I was thinking about going on a mass movement to get rid of any bias or pregedices, I think that the kind of behavior that is directed towards homosexials is discraceful as most gay's are realy nice people . As for me, my only predjudice is against predjudice, nice poetry . With poetry as your weapon - express your iner feelings so all may carry your sorrow, united as one . |

I, too, have gone through the same loneliness and isolated feelings as the ones you have eloquently expressed here. My advice it to be patient and stay sincere! You are not alone. Wonderful poem! |
