Futility

Futility begets abandoned hope
And weariness an unprotected heart.
Discouragement negates the will to cope
While vestiges of happiness depart.
Insidious and twisted, wicked aims
Bombard your raw emotions endlessly.
Deceitful, spiteful barbs attempt to maim
And leave you softly sobbing breathlessly.
But evil ogres pale before the truth
So too the sting of venom now dilute
Reclaim the treasured innocence of youth
And show yourself prepared and resolute.

For you alone may slay the fiendish foe
And bury him in misery and woe.

Oops my mistake. I am fairly new here, and
it seems we cannot delete our postings without the help of the moderator.

So, on to your gorgeous well written poem,
David. It just flows - and has such a lot
to say and leaves the reader filled with
hope.

Thanks so much for sharing.
