Empty Nest We feed them when they are little and wash them when they are small We help them grow through life and pick them up when they fall Kissing their "owies" and listening to their laughter and watching them when they have done wrong and feel with them their shame We hold them close to us and read them stories both day and night. We do our best to teach them right from wrong We protect them like tigers over their young Battling others who try to do them harm. Then, it is time to push them out of the nest they are on their own We have done our best At the crest of their adulthood they walk out the door and you sit with memories and emptiness and hope for them that your best was good enough as they leave you with memories of yesterday and hopes for the tomorrows your children grown. Lovely poem, Teresa! My nest has been empty for two years now. But the memories will stay with me forever. I am fortunate that my girls are close by and I speak with them everyday and usually see them a couple of times a week, along with the grandchildren too! I love this poem! Denise |

Your poem was great you write well, very eloquent. I don't want that day to ever happen with me. Ella |
